The Lancashire Colleges (TLC) secured £1.8 million of funding in January 2019 from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) for its ‘Moving On’ programme. Moving On provides employability skills, one to one support in English and maths and careers advice to young people aged 15 to 18 who are, or are at risk of being, ‘Not in Education, Employment or Training’ (NEET).
Over 3,500 young people have already received support through the programme. The new funding means a further 1,154 young people in Lancashire will be able to improve their career and life opportunities over the next two years.
‘Moving On’ aims to re-engage young people through the provision of personalised packages of support to tackle attendance, attainment, performance and behavioural issues. TLC is working in partnership with colleges, training providers and specialist organisations across Lancashire to deliver the programme. Preston’s College is the lead accountable body.
