Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme

Project overview

The winners of the 2025 Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme have been announced.

This March, some of Lancashire’s most talented young people took part in the second annual Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme testing themselves against teams from across the area and showcasing their skills to employers.

The competitions took place over an action-packed fortnight and over 300 students competed for one of 11 trophies. Competitors included students from all of Lancashire’s Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges including those studying as part of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology. This year’s sponsors were the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and NOCN Group.

Students on technical and vocational courses competed individually and in teams, using their skills to plaster walls, design recycling schemes, develop software, record marketing videos and even provide back massages! The stakes were high, the winning team in each competition had the honour of taking a trophy back to their college as well as winning gold medals. Runners-up won silver or bronze medals and a number of very special ‘Medallions of Excellence’ were awarded to a small number of students whom the judges thought stood out from the crowd during their competition.

We are pleased to announce The Lancashire Colleges Skills Competition Programme will be back for a second year and planning is underway for the 2025 Programme. This will consist of 11 competitions over 2 weeks in March with the following competitions confirmed:

We are also pleased to announce the NOCN Group as an additional headline sponsor for this year’s competition along with the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub who were one of the sponsors of last year’s competition.
